Iron Man

We just got back from watching Iron Man on the big screen, and I have to say I had set my expectations pretty high based off of friends reviews. In my opinion the best Super Hero movies are Spiderman 1 & 2, and the Incredibles, and now I will have to rank Iron Man right up there with them, there were plenty of LOL moments, excellent acting (I had my doubts about Robert Downey Jr. but he pulled it off), and good special effects.

A couple more pieces of plaster

Here are a couple of pieces that I have done in the last 6 months or so, I intend to keep putting up new pieces, both in plaster and lead as I get them built as opposed to waiting so long.

This piece is from the ruined fieldstone tower mold, it has been a suprisingly usefull mold for both giving things a ruined or cutaway feel and for its differnt arches. This is the first "big" project I have done. (12"x12"x9")

this is another piece for the dungeon Im working on. and my second piece using Envirotex lite for the water.

ReaperCon Report

Last weekend was the annual ReaperCon convention held in Reaper Miniatures production facilities in Denton, Tx. The weather was perfect, and since we left out on a Thursday morning the traffic wasnt to bad on the 4 and 1/2 hour trip.

The Four day con featured classes by various industry personnel, of which I took two classes. One was beginning Sculpting by Werner Klocke and "Good fast painting by Derik Schubert. both were founts of information and in a class of 5 people it was easy to get in close to see what was being done and ask questions, which they didnt seem to mind answering during the class or any time else.

We had a chance to play with the new Pro Paints that should be available at the first of June. Im ditching my old Liquitex for these paints at that time.

I also scored a bunch of neat dungeon dressings in the bits bins. next year I should have a bit of unwanted "lead" to turn in for more bits.

Outside of the con we hit Angry Dog in downtown Dallas, which had the best hotdog I have ever had and a pretty warm side of hotwings, then we spent another evening in Dave and Busters.
